PoliticAL ENGAGEMENT

San Francisco Mime Troupe's WALLS

As community engagement intern for the SF Mime Troupe, I connected the Troupe with organizations focused on the play's themes, immigration policy, xenophobia, and Islamophobia. For the speaker series I planned as part of this work and a resource list I created on the topics, click here.

Stanford Graduate Student Council

As an elected member of the Graduate Student Council and co-chair of the Diversity and Advocacy Committee, I compiled a report on graduate student life based on a survey of close to 1800 students and conveyed this information to key staff and administrators. Administrators' responses are still forthcoming, but it has helped spark changes in advising policy and will likely result in further support for graduate student parents. Full report available here.

Stanford Sanctuary Now

In the wake of the 2016 presidential election, I collaborated with undocumented and formerly undocumented students to create a list of policy recommendations for the university. After the group and I met with the university president and key administrators, the university acted on one of my proposals and created undocumented.stanford.edu, a website with information specifically for undocumented students and applicants.
